In recent years there has been increasing concern about the challenge of pupil mobility in schools. The purpose of these materials is to help schools analyse and discuss the curricular needs of their mobile pupils and to decide how best to respond. These materials could be used to complement Managing pupil mobility: Guidance (DfES 0780-2003) (link opens in new window).
The movement of pupils in and out of schools at non-routine times has implications for some of the fundamental outcomes of schools: pupils' attainment; target setting; and performance and attendance tables. However, pupils' mobility has only relatively recently been recognised as a significant issue for a range of schools, not only those in challenging circumstances.
