Download publicationThis pack provides a framework of objectives for teaching algebra to Years 7, 8 and 9. The framework is based on the Key Stage 3 programme of study and is similar to the National Literacy Strategy and the Key Stage 3 English frameworks. It is aimed at headteachers and teachers of mathematics.
The pack provides additional guidance on developing progression in the teaching of constructing and solving linear equations. Although specific in this focus, it illustrates an approach that is designed to serve the broader purpose of developing the teaching of all aspects of algebra.
