The Key Stage 3 planning handbook
The Key Stage 3 handbook is designed to assist mathematics departments as they plan to meet the requirements of the new National Curriculum programmes of study, to be implemented from September 2008. A vital part of this is planning units of work that engage pupils in the key processes outlined in the programme of study. The first tasks offer ways for subject leaders to work with their departments to get to know the new curriculum and to set planning priorities which can be worked on over time. Other key tasks aim to assist departments in building up an evolving scheme of work in electronic form:
- considering teaching approaches and working towards a shared vision for the pupils
- identifying priorities for development, starting with Year 7 and ensuring that the whole key stage is addressed by 2011.
