The National Strategies Annual Plan Summary 09–10
The National Strategies are the Department for Children, Schools and Families' (DCSF) main programme and delivery vehicle for securing improvements in standards in Early Years (EY) settings and schools, particularly in the core subjects of English, mathematics and secondary science, Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Behaviour and Attendance (B&A).
The Strategies have been very successful in offering frameworks for core subjects and developing practice that has transformed the standards of teaching and learning in schools and settings throughout the country.
The period between now and 2011 is an important one, as we complete key programmes, develop local capacity and embed best practice in LAs, schools and settings. None of this can happen overnight – there is still much to do, as this summary of the National Strategies' Annual Plan clearly shows.
